A bowling alley? Sure, we did a show at one of those. A church basement? Yup, we showed up there as well. But never did we think that, one day, one of our favorite UK rock acts would take the stage at an actual Wedding Chapel in the heart of Las Vegas.
But that's exactly what happened this past Wednesday when the anthemic Scottish group Glasvegas took the stage at the Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel in downtown Sin City. Okay, it wasn't actually a stage. It was more like a set of stairs where, typically, the bride and groom would stand during the ceremony. But as the lights dimmed, the band treated it like they were playing Wembley Stadium.
For most of their hour long set, the lucky hundred or so kids that squeezed inside watched as the band powered through the highlights from their recently released debut, including "Geraldine" and "Flowers And Football Tops." In staying within the theme of the night, drummer Caroline McKay played the entire set wearing a wedding gown, which was made even more impressive by the fact that she never sat downonce during their performance.
The band finally closed out the night with the crowd favorite "Daddy's Gone" and then packed up their epic light system and met with a handful of fans. It was a Secret Show we'll all remember and it wouldn't have been possible without Glasvegas, Columbia Records, Viva Las Vegas and, of course, our sponsor Citi Forward.
